SERVICES FOR ABUSERS

New Directions Classes
A program for the elimination and prevention of battering by providing services to those who batter.

  • These classes are offered to men or women batterers.
  • Enrollment may be voluntary or court ordered.
  • Classes are available in English and Spanish.
  • Most fees are based on a sliding scale.
  • Program consists of 26 group sessions focused on helping batterers understand and define various forms of domestic abuse and related behaviors, learning ways to prevent these negative behaviors, and gaining positive, non-abusive relationship skills.

Anger Management classes
A program designed not for the removal of anger, a natural human emotion, from your life, but to help you learn how to control mismanaged anger, which is often a factor in domestic violence.

  • These classes are offered to men or women who struggle with controlling anger regardless of whether they have been involved in domestic violence or not.
  • Classes are available in English and Spanish.
  • Fees are minimal and based on a sliding fee scale.
  • Program consists of 16 weekly group sessions.
  • Classes may be joined at any time.
  • An intake and orientation meeting must be attened prior to attending the first class.
  • Topics include: understanding what contributes to unmanaged anger and learning healthy anger management skills such as problem solving skills, the use of humor, better communication, using logic, and more.
